cost of using timer on plugged items

Hi
I have searched and I couldn't find the answer to this one... but that might just mean my search terms were poor, so please could you point me in the right direction if this has been asked already.
I use timers to control lamps (for security) and to turn off the power to my DAB radio when I'm asleep. My boyfriend told me that these timers use electricity too. Which is obvious when you think about it, but I hadn't. Does anyone know how much they use? Is it more than having the radio on standby for example?
I know I could figure this out if I compared usage on my electricity meter with and without the timers over a period of time. However, I live in a flat in a converted block and all the meters in the building are locked in the basement - when I want the meter read I have to ask the handyman for a reading and he texts me with it - so I can't easily check usage.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The power they use is so low it is almost impossible to measure. They cost no more than a few pence per year to run.0
