AYUBOWAN indeed
Hope you enjoyed it as much as I always do.
I'm sure all us regulars won't mind a post with all the details
Which resort & hotel did you go to ?
Any trips ? Ride/wash an Elephant ? Climb Sigiriya ?
Well quoia I can see why you love the country so much! We spent 8 days, travelling around with our own private driver.
The highlights for me included the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala, watching the elephants bathe in the river and getting up close with a baby and touching his spiky hair. The Safari in Minneriya was amazing seeing the wild elephant slowly making their way to the watering hole... and two hours later had still not arrived.
Climbing Sigiriya rock was a feet in itself even for a fit and healthy person, we could see the rock from the hotel Sigiriya where we stayed.
Taking the train to Nuwara Eliya through the mountain was breathtaking and the tour of the tea factory was definitely my favourite part. I never knew that the tea us Brits love is the dust swept off the floor!!!!
Then onto Yala (taking in the tooth relic, what’s that all about and the Polonnaruwa ruins in-between), to stay at the amazing Yala Village hotel. The hotel is set in the grounds of the national park, you need a chaperone to leave your chalets due to the wild Elephants that walk through reception!! I knew never that elephants can are deadly silent and can creep up on you, they can run at 40 kph. Scary!!!!
Over the next two days we did a morning and evening Safari. They didn’t tell us that the morning Safari started at 5:30 am and walking to the reception at 5am the wild Bore scared the life out of me, just appearing out of the darkness!!!!!
On the last day it was onto Negumbo via the Turtle hatchery on then on to HONG KONG... but that another story!!!!!!!_____________________________________________
