Don't forget, the other benefit is that once you can start to overpay in later years, then the mortgage debt (and associated payments) will quickly fall away
Where I eventually buy a house won't be anywhere near where I am now, but I don't know where it will be... probably 100-150 miles from here in 3-5 years' time.0 -

The green bars show the benefit of ownership over rental. The fact that they were green and growing is good news for you.
Good luck in your house purchase.
I don't know what the market will do, more than anyone else on here does, but my sense is that it will rise steadily over the next few years, albeit not at the rate we have seen since February.
It could be that this could be a very astute move for you PasturesNew. Best of luck to you !0 -

The sound proofing can be pretty dire, though....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
And to give balance...not all social housing tenants are chavs! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I wonder, lack of funding, fears of further drops ( if I was a BTLer, with a double digit yield, price drops wouldn`t concern me. Anyway, seems like a change of sentiment. Ah it`s different this time.
Possibly a potential problem in the near future will be the willingness of another government to pay Housing Benefit to allow landlords to enjoy 12% yields.US housing: it's not a bubble

What a nasty piece of work you are
New builds are nick named chav flats round here. All bling, brash and show. It doesn`t refer to those who inhabit them.0 -

I couldn't afford a new build rental.
(Usual caveat about my savings/being tight: that's to buy a house so entirely ignored; I live within my means/income on a month-by-month basis). Obviously I can afford to spend what the heck I like, when I like ... I'm just tight about my nestegg.
Lets get the violins out, another woe is me post from our resident miser. you chose to sell your house and sit on the money, you chose to live in squallor so that you can increase that money.
Poor old EbenezersNew has to eat gruel while chavs live like kings. yeah right, the difference being that people on LHA dont have 200 grand in the bank. miser.0 -
One thing that makes me laugh is the way they name these blocks.
Years ago we may have had Cavandish House, Marlborough Court, Lancaster Towers, all sounding rather grand.
Now they get names like Splash, Zero Four. Who thinks those names up?0 -

You're not a very nice person are you?

I'm glad something makes you laugh pobby.
I'm always a bit worried you spend your time tutting and shaking your head, worrying how it's not like it used to be.0
