Help needed (Incapacity)

I've had a serious problem for ages, but I cannot do this anymore guys, I am sat at home always in tears because I am bored, I want to work and feel there is no way to go :-(

I saw an advert recently with a man in chains, saying people with benefits can get back to work but I don't have the number.

I'm very badly depressed and need to work, I hate feeling so useless, what can I do, where can i find the number on the advert and how can I get back to work???

:-(

  • Hi, messageforyou, I dont know the advert you are referring to, but maybe you can speak to a benefits advisor at the job centre? Obviously with your problem they may be able to guide you in the right direction. You could also look at voluntary work.

I hope you feel a bit better soon, and there will be better advice on the way I'm sure

You are not scum! You're ill, that's why you aren't at work.
You're stuck at home all day away from the working world and feel bad about it, but you are not scum so put that straight out of your head..
My hubby is the same, he can't work either, due to his epilepsy, he gets really down but tries not to show it.
Have you thought about doing some volunteer work for a charity shop to get you into the world?
I'm sorry, I don't know what your illness is but I wish you well,
    all the best xx

    Hello there messageforyou.
I just wanted to say i hope you feel better soon.
I noticed a little spark of motivation in your post, the more you do for yourself the more you will want to.
Like the other poster says, speak to your benefits advisor, think about some volunteer work at a local shop to get you out of the house.
Keep going little steps at a time.
And keep posting, we'll keep your chin up for you.

Without going into detail please can you tell us the nature of your illness so
that we could maybe suggest suitable things for you.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

  • Hi again, thank you.

I have a problem with my lungs after an accident 2 years ago meaning its sometimes hard for me to breathe, so I have been signed off by the Doctors. I am desperate to work though, for the freedom and for the money so I know voluntary work is good but I really want to 'earn' and have that feeling of independance again :-(

Are you going to get back to good health.
(sorry dont mean to sound nosy) sometimes its good to talk
and while your talking your being positive.

    Hi messageforyou

I know the advert you're talking about – I think that it's for Shaw Trust.

    http://www.shaw-trust.org.uk/home

If you click on the link above, and then select "Support for Individuals" from the left hand menu, you'll get an idea of how they can help.

You can contact them via their contact form on the website or you can ring them on 01225 716300.

    Hope that helps!
