If I set about making a complaint, will I get anywhere??

My daughter is now 12 years old as is my CSA claim

My daughters father has been dodging the CSA by working cash in hand etc and I have tracked him down on a few occassions (not that I should be doing their job) and still it has got me no-where.

I have had 4-5 letters telling me the arrears are now over 3k and that he should be paying me £78 per week (that amount includes arrears) but obviously nothing has ever materialised.

The case has been with enforcement for a few years now, although it seems not much enforcement is occurring which I am extremely unhappy about. They say they have all these powers now ie; revoking driving license etc, but nothing is happening and my daughter only has 4 years of school left and important one's, I don't want her to miss out on the bigger school trips etc but it is such a struggle!!

Is it worth complaining at all??

The quick answer is yes it is!

Regardless of how long your daughter has left in school, the arrears will be due to you as the PWC.

Unfortunately you need to keep on at them all of the time, ring every couple of weeks for an update on your case, and push enforcement to do something about it. They do have huge powers but seem reluctant to use them (dont worry I have had this argument before ), the key to it though is not to give up. Look at is a long term project and dont stress out about it, just keep writing and informing them of any changes (send letters recorded) and call and ask them to update you every 2-3 weeks.

Make an official complaint and get your MP involved, they represent you and so can fight your case for you too.

Have you talked to your daughters school? If you are on any form of means tested benefit then they will usually ask for a much lower contribution or give you longer to pay, that would mean that she would not have to miss out. Dont worry about asking because there are lots of families in your situation!

    Take care

Thank you for the advice, I am not on benefits so not sure if the school will be flexible, but my money is still extremely tight.

But I shall contact my local MP and get the ball rolling!!

    Thanks again :)

i made several complaints via bolton office....they were helpful in responding but very poor in actually doing anything. Therefore, i contacted my MP. within a few weeks my case was transferred to another CSA office who acted and dealt with my case more quickly and efficiently, especially in not messing around with the NRP for getting income details and to start payments.
Before, you contact yoru mp is worth lodging a complaint direct with csa, so at least they know that you tried the system.

it's always worth persuing a complaint but don't hold your breath - mine was submitted in September 2008, ICE and my MP are involved currently and I'm still nowhere nearer to reaching a conclusion on this.....

Definately complain and do it via your MP - they usually get much quicker results. You need to list the dates you have so that they can see how long it has been with enforcement; you want to know exactly what enforcement action has been attempted - have they got a liability order yet? If not, why not? If they have, what action have they taken to recover the money?

As an aside, do you have any evidence of his current working? If so, I would be demanding that they refer the case to criminal compliance for them to investigate (depending on his earnings of course - if he declares nothing, but is working then it is certainly worth it).
