Credit File - Should I be linked?
Hi all
My mum took out a loan with Black Horse, part of the Lloyds corporate machine, in October 2003 to pay for something for me. At the time I was 16.
I've been checking my credit files recently and I'm listed as being financially associated with her through this. It was my understanding that an association can only arise if it is a joint application? As I was 16 at the time, obviously this wouldn't have been possible, so is this association correct?
My mum doesn't have a good credit rating and I'm repairing mine so I would like to have this association removed if possible. What steps could we take if it shouldn't be there?
TIA
Paddy

You are correct an association can only occur where a joint account is applied for.
Apply for a notice of disassociation with all three CRA's.

You can get linked with people in the same house even when there is no connection. Steven is correct in the fact that you can (and should) get the association removed.
In the past, I have been linked with my dad, brother, an ex boyfriend and the girl who lived in the flat above me as we were number 22 and she was 22A. Her surname and my ex boyfriends were very similar which did not help.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100
