Hi
I am currently a member of a company final salary pension scheme. I also make an AVC payment to the companies scheme and post A day am able to take this as tax free cash etc.
Could someone advise if it is now permissable to start another (presume personal) pension plan outside of the company / avc environment.
I have a relative who wants to give me xx amount a month to contribute towards a pension. I'm wondering whether it is better to increase the AVC amount or start something new external
Look forward to hearing from you

As mentioned in threads in the last few days, AVCs are virtually obsolete now. Unless there is some employer benefit for doing it, then the tie ins, that still exist with AVCs, make them a very inconvenient retirement planning vehicle.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
