Apple - Sale?

Does anyone know when/if Apple do a sale? My husband wants an ibook, and I'm trying to convince him to wait for a sale, but I'm not sure if Apple do sales?

Any advice would be great.

jusr had email from apple, somethings going on this friday!
http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/campaigns/black_friday_teaser?mco=MTU1OTU2NzQ not sure what or if of any use to you, but who knows!
  • Apple often run these 'special' events. From experience they boil down to - anyone interested in Apple products... come along and buy the same stuff for the same price and be extra happy.

I would like to be proved wrong, but Apple are notorious for not budging one bit on price, you may be able to get a warranty thrown in but that'll be about it. Their theory being that 'our products are lovely and people will pay!' is a sound one, unfair but sound.

Why is that approach unfair exactly?

The details I got in the email just said friday this week. (27th) didn't mention what or how much.
    Here is a copy-paste:

Prices are only for 27/11/2009. Some products are not available in all countries. Prices and product specifications are subject to change.
spacer.gifShopping event is available at the Apple Online Store and 0800 048 0408 only on 27 November from 00:01 to 23:59 GMT. Selected offers also available at UK Apple Retail Stores; not all sale products available in all stores. Sale prices are limited to stock on hand and while supplies last.

As I recall from previous years, the savings are about 5%. Nowhere near as good as using the refurb store, but better than nothing if, like me you are lusting over a magic mouse or some sort of similar peripheral!

The free shipping is actually the bargain here - it has been increasingly irritating me that the break on free shipping is now at the £75 ish mark. It makes it cheaper for me to actually drive to an Apple store and pay for the parking, than order a vital connector or whatever from their website.
