Some help with a remortgage

Hello,
I booked a fixed rate for a remortgage, valid for 6 months, in June for 3 years with another lender and have until 15 December to "use that rate". I paid £99 to book it.
At the time I booked the rate I was told by the lender providing we get your application in by 15 December then the rate will be applicable (already have an agreement in principal up unitl 7 Dec.)
I have just been told that the rate will only apply if the mortgage is complete by the 15th Dec. which of course is not possible now.
Can anyone advise where I may stand on this?

No it is First Direct.
The KFI doesnt mention either way.
They have said to send it in and "we will process" and then ask a manager nearer the time. Obviously I dont with to just proceed and then find out they will only offer a fixed deal substantially higher than that I booked.0
