Ha ha!
Well I have a baby on the way and a house move to a significantly more expensive place! Plus a GF who is taking 6 months off, meaning I am paying for her too! Enough excuses yet?!
That said, I will be trying hard to boost income ove the next few months - I want to break the £40k barrier by the end of the year!Loan [STRIKE]£5000[/STRIKE] £0; Overdraft [STRIKE] £700[/STRIKE] £0

I guess I have an unfair advantage in that I earn a bit more, but I'm forking out a fair bit in maintenance and travelling to see my girls and hotels when I'm down there !!
Friendly pushing might be the trick, maybe you should wait on the Ipad0 -
I like the friendly pushing idea!
iPad is going to be a birthday present, so I am not paying for that. Additionally the purchase of a bike and the saving over over £100 in fuel can offset the monthly charge, which is how I am justifying it to myself!
I am waiting on a couple of potential clients too, which could be a big boost to my income - looking at going easily over £40k if I could get those in!Loan [STRIKE]£5000[/STRIKE] £0; Overdraft [STRIKE] £700[/STRIKE] £0

Fair enough, no such rationale for my PS3 wish :-(
Can you point me in the direction of a starting / acceptable recongnised course for PT ?0 -
The PT course is an interesting one. Before I went self-employed, I was the group gym manager of a very successful chain. I used to deal with lots of the training providers and held interviews for lots of positions (I had 110 fitness instructors working for me).
The well known ones are Premier Training, Lifetime Fitness, YMCA etc, but they tend to charge a massive premium.
In the qualifications market, an NVQ level 3 is considered the same, regardless of where you get it, so don't think a £5000 course is better than a £500 course - the qualification is the same.
For a quick route in, my advice would be to go with a well known, but cheaper course (try YMCA, I think they might be cheaper than the others, but certainly shop around). Don't rest there though, spend money investing in CPD such as GP referral qualification, a group exercise qual (spinning ideally), perhaps a basic level nutrition qualification.
Most of the Level 3 instructors I interviewed thought they had done it all when they passed their level 3 and had not bothered to improve their knowledge and skill set, which left them miles behind those who wanted to progress.
I have an honours degree in medical exercise and have still taken 9 courses in the last 2 and a half years, to keep me up to date.Loan [STRIKE]£5000[/STRIKE] £0; Overdraft [STRIKE] £700[/STRIKE] £0

I'm very interested in nutrition and science, always was from my footballing days, therefore I would always push to get as much as I could in qualifiactions and the GP referral is a good tip thanks. I'm battered and bruised from football this week and I'm thinkign I am close to having to give it up for something less punishing, my knee is twice the size it was on Monday.
Just looking through the certificates I have currently, I have
FA Levels 1-3 in football coaching
My Police check for working with children in coaching
Child protection Best Practice
Valid First Aid Certificate0
