Mortgage query

I have a joint mortgage with an ex and I have a buyer for my flat only I have no contact with him and haven't for years. I tried a number I did have and I got no response so I'm unsure how this will affect me being able to sell the flat. He has never contibuted towards a mortgage payment and I will also be in negative equity when I sell so he could make no money from it.
