Knitting yarn advice

I've been looking for a free pattern online to make a baby blanket & found these

trouble is I have no idea what wool to use. I can't find any Bernat stockists. Has anyone got any suggestions for a self striping yarn I could use, or what I can use on the plain one. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi, that needle size and yardage is double knitting - i'm knitting with Crofter DK at the moment, it's the same yardage and is self patterning into a fairisle pattern - really pretty. Otherwise any double knit sock wool will self stripe - the pattern is lovely!
I got my Crofter from ebay

  • Thanks Westcoastscot, if its DK am I right in thinking I can use any DK? I love that Crofter yarn you mentioned but need more baby colours. I'm wondering how the pattern would turn out if I used a fleck, probably wouldn't be as effective as the stripes though.
Thanks Allydowd for the phone number, the website seems to be down at the moment so I'll have a look for alternatives first.
