mortgage advisor job

i've very recently qualified as a mtge advisor, and am working for a building society at the moment, but for various reasons i don't like my current employer anymore, so was wondering if any of the experienced mtge advisors can recommend good companies to work for as a mtge advisor - i would prefer to stay in the bank/bs side of things until i gain experience.
equally - if you know of any companies that should be avoided like the plague pls let me know.

:A
Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!

I would avoid a company in manchester called cartel, they take advisors on newly qual'd and set you up as self employed with an allowance of £1500 per month or so, then pressure you into working about 200 hours a week, they are very cut-throat if you don't make the grade. They have a very high staff turnover as you imagine. I know this because my friend is a director of a huge recruitment agency in Manchester, and he has at least one person a week come in desperate to leave this place. There is also a company called remortgage.uk.com based in nelson, lancs. I can't say why or I'd end up in court but stay WELL CLEAR of them, IMHO a bunch of COWBOYS!!

Where are you!! ;) (only joking!)

depends where you want to end up- if you want to end up giving professsional Whole of Market advice to your own clients then you might do well to get taken under the wing of a person running their own business-

If you want to stay in a banking environment- then it will be difficult to gain experience of sourcing the whole market as you will only be able to "advise" on your Banks products and IMHO-that is only a part of the whole role of being a mortgage adviser.

    Good Luck though!

I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.
I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.
Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far!

    Hi,

    Contact this company

    http://www.mackenzieclarke.co.uk

They specialise in Financial Services recruitment.

I don't know if this guy is still there but ask for James Woods. Tell him that Andrew Smith, a guy who his sister Kate once placed sucessfully, recommended that you call him.

They are an excellent company and will consult fully with you making sure that they recommend only those positions in which you will be interested.

    Hope this helps

    Andy
