Mortgage Sickness/Unemployment Cover

Hi all, I'm a first time poster but a regular lurker on here.

I wasn't sure whether to post this here on in insurances...

I've had a policy for sickness and unemployment cover on my mortgage.

I've made a few claims, my last one being from an illness from which I have yet to recover. The insurers paid out the correct amount under the term of the policy but I have today discovered that as I haven't gone back to work within six months of the completion of the claim, the policy is now invalidated and needs to be cancelled. With a letter from my doctor it should be possible for me to get back some of the premiums I have paid this year.
I told them I didn't want to formally cancel the policy until I had taken advice:
1. Should I cancel the policy? I am assuming that if I do it will be impossible for me to get a new policy for a reasonable cost should I return to work?
2. What should I do if it is a requirement of my mortgage company to hold this type of policy?
3. Will anyone ever insure me again?

Your questions are too specific to be answered on an internet forum as facts need to known.

You should go back to the adviser/broker that sold the policy and get advice from them on question 1 and question 3.

question 2 is easy as its not a requirement.
