How Long For Bacs Payments??

On Monday of this week I was told by the Dss that a payment for £918 will go into my bank account.
Well its now Thursday and it still has not gone into my account(not happy) so How long Does it take for a payment form the Dss Via the Bacs payment service??
Im asking because I keep getting told Diff times,my bank say 3 to 5 working days and the Dss say 7 to 10 working days.

So as I said they put it for payment into my account on Monday when do you all think it will hit my Account??,I hate waitting for something I know will come!!!

    Hiya

Well I can tell you definately that it takes 3 business days for a bacs, but that will be from when the bank gets the payment instruction.

    Hope this helps.

I did BACS payments in my last job.

A payment processed by me on Monday would be processed on Tuesday and in peoples accounts on Wednesday.

I get paid on a Thursday but it doesn't reach my account until Monday. So I would think it should be there by tomorrow. If not chase someone up.

I would have said tomorrow at earliest - it all depends on when they sent the instruction to the bank - if they only sent it Monday it wont get to the bank the same day I wouldnt have thought - then allow a few days gets to Friday or over the weekend I would have said.

I had the problem with the DSS that they kept saying the payment would be going into the bank - and it was over a month til it actually did - though hopefully this wont be in your case! I ended up asking for them to send some by giro credit for me to tide me over!

I had a not inconsiderable sum paid into my account, from DWP, a few months ago.It was processed on the 26th of the month and available to me 8 days later.

Why Did it take so long to get to your Account??

The normal bank advice is that it takes 3-5 working days (which gives grace for if the payment is requested after close of business on day 1 etc) but as others have pointed out this is from the date that the instructions are actually sent to the bank.

The problem is that on Monday you were told "it will go into your account" not that the payment had actually been processed yet. These kind of things tend to require at least a few days of internal processing/ passing between departments before they actually send instruction to the bank hence the difference in expected time. In a recent dispute I had with the council it took over 6 weeks for the payment to be received as the telephone/ claims department didnt know the accounts department were withholding all payments whilst they did year end reports.

Pension service payments (did) take a minimum of 5 full working days to go in via BACS payments, if they want to go in on a Monday, they had to send the payment no later than a Monday night by the time it left the DWP system and went on to the banks system.
