Cleaning fairy wings?

Yes seriously -lol. My 6yo DD is a fairy in her xmas play and I have to supply the outfit.

Fairy dress ok we have one and just needs a goo in the WM, but the wings are rigid and a little grubby. What can I wash them in? I saw a recent episode of 'how clean is your house' where they dipped a teddy bear in something for a few mins and he came up brill but can't remember what was used.

In addition there is a small felt tip pen mark on one of the wings, not drastic if it can't be removed but would prefer to if poss.

Don't mind if you give me old fashioned tips or suggest buying a new cleaning product - just thought this board would be the most knowledgeable

  • Are they white? If so, could you put them in some diluted bleach in the bath?

That's the only thing I can think of big enough to put them in!

Yes they are white, well off white - but they do fold in half. Hadn't considered bleach. We have an original 1930's enamel bath and I'm a bit careful about what I put in it.
  • Spray it on with one of those pump spray bottles? Then rinse under the shower, or spray it again with clean water?

  • Kim and Aggie usually clean teddy bears with a damp face cloth rubbed in toilet soap.

They used Steradent. If you shop in Tesco you can buy own-brand denture cleaning tablets for less than 40p.
