Someone mentioned the BBC Food Christmas Muffin mix in a jar. I made this one year (itw as in their magazine) & tied a bow round the top to attach a wooden spoon & gave it to my Dad who had just retired and wanted to learn to cook. He made the muffins and they were lovely, so for anyone wanting to do this present in a jar, I can recommend it.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

One sauce in a jar that is very popular in our house is home-made pesto which is great for stirring into pasta or onto toast/pizzas. It tastes far better than the commercial stuff which always seems to have an acrid taste. There are probably lots of recipes on the internet but you do need a blender or stick blender for whizzing up all the ingredients. If you put the pesto into small glass jars with metal screw top lids, these can be stored in the freeze untill needed and then kept in the fridge once opened.0

Or you could buy a block of marzipan from the cake-making section of the supermarket, cut it into two chunks, add a little red or green food colouring to the different chunks, and roll them into festive marzipan "marbles". Tie the jar with a colourful red or green ribbon. Far cheaper than all those marzipan fruits you pay a fortune for.0

Delia's Xmas chutney (already suggested above I know) and tapenade for your sister. Can be almost anything whizzed in food processor but i use a tin of anchovies including the oil, black olives and some capers with possibly some sun dried toms. sounds a lovely idea for a family tradition.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420
