Help On Compensation Specialists!

I Am Livid after just coming back from my elderly parents!

To cut it short, My Parents wer mis-sold an endownment policy (my brother had went through the documents etc etc and pointed it out).

Anyway, nothing else was metioned, today when i went over, she showed me a letter!
She had contacted Claim2Gain through a newspaper advert a while back, after winning them a good amount of money (just by posting a few letters back and forwards) the company are taking a MASSIVE 25% fees from the total sum!

Although she hasn't accepted this offer yet, they had originally signed a letter (from the beginning) telling them to proceed with the claim.

I cannot find the terms and conditions letter they sent them at start.
What would be a legal position on the size of their fee?
Is this normal and legal?

If my parents pull out will they still need to pay fees?

Thanx

Im not sure what your legal position is but it frustrates the **** out of me when these companies advertise knowing that they are all charging similar charges.

I would get a copy of the t&c's and read through the stuff but I am guessing that if the claims comapny know about this offer then its going to be difficult to get out of paying it.

I am sure there are a few real experts on this around on the forum but dont hold your breath for the answer you want.

I total agree, my parents are both retired and well aged now, what the companies are charging should be stated more clearly and not in the small print.

There is no regulation on these claim companies at this time. How do you think some of them can afford to advertise in the national papers or during Coronation Street. Its because they take so much of the redress and are raking it in.

I have been told of cases where redress has been as low as 26p but the claims company has billed £850 to the individual because the redress wasnt enough to cover their costs.

There is usually very little you can do with these things as most state a percentage and/or minimum amount to pay and if you sign to agree that, then they have you by the short and curlies.

With most being no win/no fee, the high compensation amounts offset the cases where no redress is payable. Its typical commission style billing.
