Morrisons have Mature Cheddar on offer at £2 a 400G block until 8 Aug.(£5/kG)

When I got some this morning I noticed that the blocks varied quite a bit in size. I got two, took them home and weighed them.
One was 412G - the other 497G(= £4.02/kG). Might go back tomorrow with the kitchen scales !!
    Not bad cheese either...........

Only when you got home did you notice? Would have thought it would have been pretty obvious when they were in your hand.

Why? If they were both in the same hand how could anyone tell that one weighed less than the other?

Maybe moonrakerz had a basket in one hand, picked up one block then put it into the basket before picking up the other.

I bought some of this cheese at the weekend, it is lovely, off to buy some more tomorrow.

It is not overly strong and is quite creamy.

    I said:-

"1. I noticed that the blocks varied quite a bit in size
    2. I got two
    3. took them home and weighed them"

Would I have got two, and taken them home and weighed them if I hadn't noticed the difference ?

I normally do this for items at Morrison that have a fixed price. You can sometimes get a fair percentage free if you don't mind people seeing you digging around on the shelves..

    From my shop yesterday....
50p Cabbages. Some are much larger/heavier than others. Scales in veg section helps.:)
500g packs of Cooking bacon. some packs are much heavier. Have to guess the actual weight though no scales handy. (last one I bought is 611g so 22% extra free)
Fresh chickens. There's 3 or 4 price points but the weights of the chickens do vary within each range, and of course the weights are actually printed on the pack so its easy to find the biggest ones.

Most people don't do this, they just choose the closest one and pop it into their basket - if only they knew they might be missing out on an extra 10 or 20%..

I couldn't see this posted anywhere in the food forum so thought id let everyone know.
I can't remember if it was every thickness of bread but it was deffinately white thick and extra thick sliced morrison's own brand.:j

I usually shop in Tesco and buy their own brand wholemeal loaf, which is around 69p, or their Value loaf, which is around 50p, so was amazed when I went into Morrisons today and found their own brand loaf is only 30p!!! It's a much nicer loaf than the tesco value too, more like the Tesco own brand loaf. They also have white at the same price, both medium sliced.

Just thought I'd mention it for anyone trying to cut down on the price of bread, it tastes great, well it's as good as Tesco own brand at 69p anyway, which is good enough for me! :rotfl:

Its only a limited time offer so don't get too attached to it, goes back up to 74p afterwards.
