  • If you have a Home Bargains shop local to you then they often have the nacho packs and fajita packs really cheap.

I think that Asda had come offers on Discovery kits of tortilla wraps, nachos, dips, sauces and mixes when I was in last weekend. A few of the big names have done promotions on this range recently.

We've found it difficult to get hold of chilli beans lately but Tesco do tins of red kidney beans in chilli sauce which we use with mince and onion. (You don't need to fry the mince in chilli oil like my other half did this week though!)

Asda own brand fajita kits were £1 on friday - 8 wraps, sachet of salsa, packet of fajita seasoning.
They had a lot of old el paso stuff at 2 for £2.50

Don't buy the pickled chillis though go to home bargains for those - big jar for 89p iirc.

a delicious nachos meal can be made relatively cheaply just get a packet of supermarket brand tortilla chips (only around 15p or so) a tin of chili con carne some cheese and pickled chilis

cook the chili con carne and pour over the tortilla chips sprinkle some chilis with grated cheese over the top and microwave for about 1 min or place in oven for 4 mins to melt the cheese.

serve with sour cream or salsa
  • Sainsbury's have the old El Paso kits cheap this week, don't remember the price, but under £2 (just search sains.co.uk)

    It's only a game

I do something similar, I use salsa instaed of chilli and then cover with grated cheese and either microwave or put in oven to melt cheese, the salsa comes in various strengths, also good for a starter or buffet.
  • The funny thing is that when we went to Mexico we didn't once have a chilli. The hotel restaurant didn't do them, and we couldn't seem to find a restaurant in town that did them either!! Maybe they thought us tourists couldn't take them, but we were really hoping for a decent chilli!!
