It is true that I have lost nothing other than two months of potential growth of the new pension pot and a certain amout of sleep last weekend!

However, if I say nothing, what's to stop this poor advice being given out repeatedly? I'm not a fan of complaining unless it's really justified and constructive, but ignoring the issue could be as damaging as raising concerns about it.

100% agree , thats why isnt it vitalily important that people reading these can clearly understand when and how to complain. On reading the two threads the issues look exactly the same to me - ("tied" branch based salesman, poor sales practice, vital information not being mentioning, documentation not issued) yet unless i'm mistaken the industry expert on these boards is giving completely opposite advice.

o help regular readers understand complaint procedures can you just confirm the difference between this case and this

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...&highlight=mvr

On the other thread there was no evidence of mis-sale and the person went straight to complaint without finding out information first to see if there was a complaint or not to be made. Plus, you were being intentionally difficult and argumentative. Although nothing new there.
What could Judith hope to gain from complaining as no loss has been made? Wont some poor sod end up with a complaint against them which will stay with them when they try to leave the IFA traing school?

In this case, there is a clear and blatent mis-sale. There is very little to be gained other than trying to stop some other person suffering the same fate.

I suppose the advantage I have over the other poster is that I am still within my 30-day cooling off period, so have been able to cancel at minimal cost to me. I am a bit of an obsessive small-print reader, so did spot the anomalies, and now realise that the advice given was entirely inappropriate given my circumstances.

The problem will be proving that I wasn't made aware of the £600 fee, as ultimately it would probably relate to a "my word against his situation". Not good, though.

Glad thats clear then, wouldnt want Judith or anyone else for that matter to think they might get some monetary compensation when no actually loss has been incurred.

Do you ever stop and think that there might be a different opinion to you? You need to learn that a difference of opinion doesnt mean difficult and argumentative.

On the previous thread I thought ( and judging by the many pms I had in support so did many others) that you were being rude and totally unreasonable to the OP for no apparent reason. And now to your doing the opposite.

Yes and I have no problem with that. its a discussion board. Not an argument board.

You need to learn to stop posting in such an aggressive and argumentative manner. The impression that many have is that you solely post to pick holes and create arguments.

Yet I had PMs and others posting to that thread that agreed with me. It also turned out that I was correct which was pretty obvious early on given the product being discussed.

Compensation or redress were not mentioned until you just said it.

But you werent - there are plenty of people that "think"you were wrong

    Oh no Im argueing again!!!

Yes and theres no doubting who those "many" would be!!

Compensation or redress were not mentioned until you just said it

So what would be the point for Judith of following your advice and complaining.

They said they didnt have a guaranteed product when that is what they asked for. Yet that is exactly what they had.

To stop the person pulling the same trick again on someone else.

They didnt ask for anything - they were sold it

Would that really happen? dont want to be seen as picking holes but perhaps you should have clarified why as an FSA authorised adviser , you were advising Judith to complain .
