Energy Social tariff state of the nation.
I thought I'd post this list of social tariffs currently available and eligibility criteria as there is no single wesbite with up-to-date info all in one place and some of it is not on the web. Feel free to critique.
British Gas - Essentials Combined : For over 70s on low incomes or someone with a chronic illness. No objective discount info available.
EDF - Energy assist: 5% off for those spending 10% of (net?) income or on Pension credit or Income support.
E.on – Warmassist: Over 60s on Pension credit or DLA. Need to be E.on customer for 12 months to be eligible.
nPower - Spreading Warmth: £125 discount per fuel (Paid in January?) - Gross income under £13,500 and have children/disabled/over 60's in household. As of Sept 2009, no customers accepted (quota system).
Scottish Power - Carefree Plus: £112 discount on the tariff you chose (total, for both fuels), Overs 60's on a wide range of benefits accepted.
Scottish & Southern - EnergyPlus Care: 20% off standard (but not the standing charge) energy for those spending 15% of net income (after tax income and adding any benefits) on energy.
