Defaults & Credit File

Hello

I subsribe to having an Online Credit File, I done this as I have had 3 Defaults placed on there and I had to make sure payments were being noted by the finaince companies I have agreements with and as by means of motivating myself in clearing the debt owed, as I saw the debt figures go down with each payment and knowing that each bit I do helps improve my credit file.

Earlier this year I had to contest some information which said I owed money too even though it had been clear 3 months previously, I got the information removed which took off 1 default leaving 2 to go. The remaing defaults are results of 2 loans, 1st loan I owe £3083 too the 2nd £1415. The other day I received an alert via email stating some information had appeared on my file, so I order a new one and notice that I only have 1 default left on my file, the 2nd loan default which had until 2010 to clear off my file has disappeared although I'm happy with this result surely it can not be correct and I'm unsure I should inform the credit agency of this 'disappearance' of the default situation. I have unable to repay any money to the loan which defaulted 2 years ago I've had no letters from the company that I owe this money too in that time and was planning to repay the £1415 when I had cleared my current financial agreements.

Has anyone else been in this situation? I'd like some advice or guidance on what to do?

Blimey, I wouldn't have a clue to be honest mate!

I would personally chase it up. These things have a nasty habit of creeping up behind you and biting you on the !!! when you least expect it and least need it!

Has it dissappeared from all the credit reference agencies or just the one you have a report from. If it has disappeared from all I would leave it and consider yourself lucky. If not you still need to resolve it.

You may well find that the original creditor has now sold the debt and hence their entry has been removed, quite often the new owner of the debt will place their own entry on your file, however it is important to remember that within this new entry the default date can only ever be the same as the original date. Also if the debt has been sold then you should receive a notice of assignment to inform you of this
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them
