But then...one thing that isnt taken into account here is that some of us KNOW we definitely wont ever be going into care homes ever/full stop/no matter what - as we have already decided that, whatever happens, we will stay put in our own homes.
I havent worked this hard for my pile of bricks and mortar to have anyone steal it off me ever for something I myself wont ever need.
I would honestly rather stay put here till to the bitter end - even if it was "bitter" and I ended up in a heap at the bottom of my stairs having fallen down them. I think my "quality of life" would be better overall that way than a potential however many months/years of trying to lead a reasonable life in an old peoples home.
So - yes - I wont need it...so why should my money be stolen to pay for it?
(I do hasten to add that I think its fair enough to hand over some of my money in taxes for things like healthcare and the sort of social facilities we all need - adult education/libraries/benefits for the genuinely workless/a BASIC level of roads).0 -
Is that what it is? I thought it was some kind of new second homes scam, politician likes your house so they confiscate it. Mine doesn't have a moat, but there is a dark puddle developing under the recycle bin. tbh I don't know much about politics. Who is it wants my house anyway? And how do they know I need to go into care? And who decides? Maybe I'd rather live in my own filth surrounded by tea bags.
:rotfl:dont forget the spiders in the corners...:rotfl:
But...if thats a serious point - then I think most of us WOULD actually rather the "teabag pile"..0 -

Not sure how up to date it remains with changing costs.0 -
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

You realise that at some point your 47 cats are going to give in and begin eating your dead body. Probably around the 2 hour mark.0 -

Unfortunately there frequently isnt much nice about an NHS retirement home, and with private fees outside London easily averaging £500 a week or more , something has to give.
Baby boomers - doesn't the term apply to 45 - 65 yr olds? Hardly in the running for care home life, I'd surely hope.
Most care homes are privately run anyway now. Self-funding residents live alongside state funded residents. It's barely worth keeping the money put by as it rarely buys you a better end of life.0
