Unsubscribing ... if I wanted discussion on how bad people are, I'd find a thread about that .... sad to go, I'd love some info about the sloes, but I'll go to blogs instead.

I can understand your feelings, you're not the first to say they're off, but please don't let the minority drive you away. Most here would rather encourage and support, not whinge.

Another way I've found to tell the difference is if there was never a problem previously - ie loads to go round and plenty dropping on the ground and going to waste - but then a few "cheaper" price range houses got built on land nearby and suddenly theres a problem of everything vanishing...that very much coincides with when those houses were built.....and the people living in those houses are often seen walking round in the vicinity..

    despicable :(

Note to others on the thread - dont let the personal opinions of a couple of posters on this thread about the fact that they personally think the "ethics" involved are inappropriate to post on stop you doing so if you wish to.

'Tis just their personal opinions - so if anyone wishes to comment on ANY aspect of foraging then please dont let a couple of personal opinions put you off doing so.

Note to others on the thread - don't let the personal opinions of this user put you off posting on this thread. They are after all only her personal opinions.

Regarding birds and cherry trees I went out and counted the trees in my street 18 in total and I walked along looking for holes in the leaves, not a single one.

I know the cherries were eaten by the birds because I watched them no dive bombing they sat quite happily in the trees and ate their fill then popped back the next day for more.

I'm having a crap day and most aspects of this thread really cheer me up - came on to post that I had spotted another packed apple tree right near work but the same old same old drivel as really pee-ed me off this morning.

Perhaps we could request 2 foraging threads - on to discuss good spots and recipes etc - and one to 'discuss' the ethics - that way I can keep smiling and not feel the need to be dragged into a pointless debate.

Sorry your day is crap, hope it improves soon. I think most of us would like to see posts that inform where foraging is to be found and how to use it. Well done on your apple tree find :D Is it a "normal" apple tree or a crab apple?

Looks like proper apples - but only glimpsed as driving past - will explore later.

Anyone in Leeds citry centre there are tons of crab apples just along the road from Park Lane College that never get picked (apart from a carrier bag full by me!). I am rubbish at street names but please pm if you want more info - though you will have to pass my stingent vetting process before I pass on details ;-)

It's amazing how many apple trees you see along dual carriageways and motorways. I guess they've grown from discarded apple cores chucked out of car windows.

Can I ask what mushrooms people tend to find and how you find it best to preserve them?
