They do, there are some in the grounds of Temple Newsam, Leeds, although I don't know where they are, someone brought me a bag of them from there, they did explain where the trees where, but I don't know the place well enough to understand where they meant. My quest to find some goes on, I will let you know if I do.

Found the location of damsons and wild cherries, both in the grounds of an old ruined church. Have been offered pears when they are ready and apples as well. Very happy with that, just need the sugar to get going. I found a foraging map for my city after seeing a link above, worth googling for your town/city for the same. It only covers the city centre but its surprising what is there. It even lists the numbers of trees, 3 x almond for example. Fantastic. Have been foraging for years but sometimes miss the picking window.

that sounds brilliant, almonds, another one to add to my wish list.

    I got some pears :D

They are just right to pick I lifted them gently and turned and they just fell off,I'm so pleased!!

Found SIX apple trees I never knew were there too while stumbling through a copse I walk through every day with the doglet..was chatting to a man with his dog and we just spotted them right next to us,I swear I walk round with my eyes shut..probably why I ended up in a ditch :rotfl:

Mums bringing home the fruit picker from my bro's so I can reach the ones at the top so that'll leave the easier to reach ones for everyone else :T
One of the old blokes I walk with was chatting about his rhubarb this morning so have sorted out a swap of rhubarb for some jam all in all a great day so far :D

Good luck in finding them, I do remember her telling me the best time to get them is the week before the october holidays, as they are ready, but they all go during the holidays.
We were at Lotherton Hall a few days ago, kept my beady eye out, really enjoyed my walk, but didn't find anything of edible interest.

'my' blackberries a literally at the end of my garden, I've seen apples are pears just off the ring road up near Horsforth but spotted them too late last year. Brimhan Rocks is a lovely trip out and in a few weeks will be covered in Bilberries.

  • does anyone know any good areas for foraging in surrey as i am new to this, the only place i know is where i work and that is mainly blackberries. in fact i picked pounds of them as they are growing in abundance and still left plenty for the birds and foxes!! sadly the second batch of jam (which had turned out beautiful by the way) ended up all over me and the kitchen floor today. not happy :eek:

    Hi
Laptop went AWOL yesterday so didn't look in. There is a similar thread on the green fingered board. Ceridwen has used what I had said, which was meant kindly, to fuel her arguement so I will not be posting here again. Just wanted to say thankyou to all.
