Trying

Hi Everyone,

Well I feel this morning as if I have been punch in the stomach. Trying really hard to get some extra cash in, last week deliver a load of Avon books round my area, collected last night, and not one order.

Trying to feel postive, as I deliver to another street last night aswell, fingers crossed on that one.

  • Hope so Melabarrie, OH isn't much help at the moment and I feel that I am trying to sort out on my own.

I have given up smoking, alcohol (when I am out, Barcardi at home in cupboard its cheaper then) social evenings out just to save a few quid. OH not given up much as he doesn't smoke or really drink, but still goes through money like there is no tomorrow.

We both take lunchs into work.

    It is never ending

I have done Avon in the past....waste of time around my area! I think that's just how it goes.......it works in some areas and not others.

Could you take a brochure into work and leave it in the canteen or something like that?

Or could you leave one with your local hairdresser and split the profit? There is scope for loads of customers there, with minimal effort on your part (hence splitting the profit).

    Just a few thoughts.....

  • I think Avon doea well in some areas, I tried it years ago and had no luck, I think once you find a "good " street you will do really well, it's one of those things where you have to put a lot of hard work in. Can you get any support from Avon or a team leader to give you leads or any ideas?

Hope it picks up for you soon, I'm trying to sell books as well as my full time job and it is hard work. Try mabe to think long term.

    Hugs to you

    Hi there

Big hugs to you at the moment. Sounds like you need to sort your OH more than earning extra pennies!

Have you tried mystery shopping for a little extra?
  • Have just email my mates to see if they want to have a look, and got to post 2 Avon books out tonight.

No point to try at work because I work with all men.

Fingers crossed I will get some orders

Don't give up and don't be discouraged! Getting customers may take awhile but once you have a few you will get repeat orders as Avon is good value and quality.
I'm about to start Avon myself, my lovely sister in law has done it for a while and makes a few quid each month from it.
I think the trick is to start with people you know. Ask them to take an extra catalogue for one friend and perhaps offer them a freebie item if they generate any orders for you from their friends. So you work with men? No problem! These guys must have wives/girlfriends/mums/sisters/daughters. Ask them to take one home for their wives etc and offer an incentive to the guy who generates the most orders that way. Guys love a bit of competition. Make it work for you! I find with these things (I used to do Betterware years ago!) that once you establish a bit of a banter or relationship with your customers and they like you, they are happy to place an order, and once you have a customer they will most likely come back if the product is good, which Avon's are.
Saying all this has reminded me to get myself sorted with the Avon too, that's my goal for today. In the meantime branch out into Ebay and Amazon too if you can. GO FOR IT!!

Support from your area leader will not be helpful - and will probably end up in your buying samples. lol.

Avon is about trust as well as anything else. It will be hard work, but you need to keep up delivering the books for a few campaigns. People need to know your serious about it. If still no orders then move on, but you need to give it time.

My first round in August - no orders. By Christmas, £350 in orders.

    Good luck :)

I know one of the things that puts me off ordering is that the books are left and then they say they'll collect the next day and then don't so you feel that there isn't a lot of consistency. I prefer the Betterware catalouges than Avon. Maybe get two sidelines going at the same time to double your chances!
