Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Does anyone know if Amazon still refund the difference if an item drops in price within 30 days? There used to be a website with an owl on or something that monitored this, but I can't really remember

No, they scrapped this scheme when they reduced the minimum spend to £5 for Free Super Saver Delivery.0 -

Just an update to say that I have returned the DVDs to Amazon, I know I have to pay the postage but with them being £14 cheaper on Play I'm prepared to pay the couple of quid.0

They did it for me last week. Or I think this is what youare talking about.
I preordered the Gavin and Stacy boxset. Happily received it - I didn't check the price anywhere else since i ordered it. Then out the blue I got an email saying they were going to refund me £2 because the price was lower when I received it.

This is the pre-order price promise in which they will charge you the lowest price upto and including the day of release.
It's to get people to pre-order rather than wait to see what other stores are charging on the day of release before ordering.0 -
They will refund the difference as a good will gesture in some cases, I ordered boots and between ordering receiving they had dropped by £12 I emailed and asked them if they would refund the difference or should I return and reorder - they refunded the difference.0

as FloFlo says, they tend to be willing to refund as a 'gesture of goodwill' if there is a large change in the price.
i tend to send them an email clearly pointing out the price difference and the cost of returning the item (i use their own "Delivery Rates for Returned Items") and clearly point out that I will save money by returning the item even with the postage cost and re-ordering it.
I haven't tried to get a refund in the price difference if it wouldn't be cheaper without the return postage (as they could insist on it's return and that would be fair enough, and i think it would be abusing their goodwill to push things that far) - but like to think they won't be pedantic and completely waste my own time and theirs (not to mention resources) where the most efficient and economic outcome is a refund of the difference in prices.0
