Here is a site that helps you to find a freecycler in any area of the UK.

What is the point of having another freecycle type of site? Freecycle does the job adequately. How long before your get a hundred emails a day? Why do these people want to start a separate organisation? If they want to recycle why not start a new freecycle for their area?

A rather meaningless statement. Are you trying to make a point? Why not just make it?

The point was that you answered a thread that was originally started 9 years ago. If you actually bothered to check the link you were ranting about, you would have realised that it no longer exists and forwards to some random advertising instead.

Why post at all, let alone this particular comment, on a thread that's been dormant since June 2006 ?

.... and IF YOU ONLY KNEW !

The politics, the rules and regulations all controlled from the USA, the "in-fighting" and the never ending pressure on the volunteer administrators and guides to do everything in a very particular way that didn't always suit the UK, indeed even "forcing" them to do things they didn't want to.

EVERY local Freecycle group, around where I live, more than 15 of them, ALL eventually "closed" (after certain changes over a period of about 18 months) because of this and became a "stand-alone" recycling group usually operating under the general FREEGLE banner.
All the same administrators and all the same members, just no longer and well rid of the stranglehold control of Freecycle.

In nearly all localities a new "Freecycle" version subsequently re-opened with ZERO members under new "staff" and started recruiting.
In the early days some of these "staff" were Americans living in the USA :rotfl: and they hadn't got the slightest clue about what happens in the UK and how we do things over here. It was a total shambles.
