Thanks Charlie - Do you know if it is a conditional free eye test?? They used to do completely free ones with Nectar, but now they are only free if you purchase specs afterwards now...!!
I have been looking for a free eye test for a while..!!
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??
Debt Free as of September 2011 :j
    Sealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!
Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!
  • There do not appear to be any conditions attached. Voucher valid until 28/2/2010.
There is a separate voucher for 20% off a pair of glasses, but there is no suggestion that you have to buy glasses to get the free eye test.

Eye tests are free for everyone in Scotland, you still have to pay elsewhere and we are entitled to a copy of our prescrition.
If some one is charging you to have a copy in E&W they are effectively saying it's not free unless you buy here, bit of a con really.

  • Nectar do still offer the free eye test at D&A without needing to buy the glasses.

I have heard some branches try to refuse to give you a copy of your prescription but they actually can't refuse to give you a copy. I normally say I can't buy my glasses at the moment as I am on my own and prefer to have a friend with me for an opinion, and could I have a copy of my prescription please because a previous store said they lost mine and tried to charge me for another test and that is why I ended up there in the first place!

There must be someone you can complain to if they refuse you a copy!

I got a free eye test off my company - I've got the priscription & a £75 eyecare voucher to go towards the cost of glasses. What I'm asking is which shop's currently doing the best deal? Anyone know?

Supermarkets tend to be the cheapest but Specsavers is normally the cheapest Dedicated Opticians. Their frame prices are all inclusive of lenses except coatings or thinner lenses. They maybe don't stock the high end designer frames but if your after a deal spending £250+lenses in othe rplaces for designer stuff isn't a good deal ;)

Cheers for your response Oneday. Not really into designer gear. I did see a pair I liked in Boots (own brand) for £70 plus you get a free pair! - Should I ask for the spare fiver back?
