HI,
I'm thinking of making some marmalade next year in the attempt to keep costs down but also because I'd like to give home made birthday presents next year.
Does anyone have any experience
adding anything to Ma Made Marmalade mixes? I'm thinking about brandy, whisky and perhaps champagne (and champagne to strawberry jam).
any advice gratefully received.

I use ma made all the time. I've never thought of adding other flavourings, but as it is just the ready prepared fruit in the tin with nowt else I can't see it being a problemIt matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.

Same here. I use Ma Made, both the chunky and er non-chunky - fine cut, that`s the word I`m groping for - and it`s absolutely yummola by itself.
I would have thought that you could add whatever you liked to it - after all. it`s only cut-up oranges. Just saves you hours of faffing about (3 fruit marmalade last year with real oranges, lemons and grapefruits = wrist-slashing time where cutting up peel was concerned!)...:D0 -
Shirley Goode on her website has mentioned it several times. I think she puts other things in with it also. If you ask her a question she will answer on the next days blog.

Yes, you can add anything you like - I do! We can't buy Seville oranges here in the very North of France, and marmalade in the shops is rare and very expensive, so I stock up on MaMade during trips to the UK and have tinkered around in the past with adding whisky, Grand Marnier etc. just for fun. It works fine, but agree with ChocClare that it doesn't really need it as it tastes great all by itself."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0

Thank you to everyone - sounds fab. Hope everyone will like it - I'm not tasting it as I hate marmalade of any kind!!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

I add a grated carrot to make it go further. You can't tell once cooked.0
