Crochet flower help, please

I'm making a headband like this for DD. I've knitted the headband, but as a relative beginner to crochet, I've not been able to find a pattern for the flower. She'd like one large flower a bit like the one in the pic, and a smaller one.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a pattern?

Many thanks :A

  • Hi PP
There is a tutorial here, http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/teeny-tiny-flowers.html
it is for tiny flowers, but if you just repeat the instructions til the flower is the size you want it should work, just make 3 or 4 in varying sizes & stack them up.
    Hope this helps.

Maybe this would be suitable. You could add more layers to make the flower bigger.

I've made loads of these to decorate a plain granny square blanket. To make the centre ring a bit neater, I did a ring of single crochet round the base chain.

What about having a look on Ravelry - http://www.ravelry.com - there are loads of crochet flower patterns there if you do a search in the pattern section. The only problem will be which one to choose....... :-)

Pen Pen - I found this on Ravelry - it has a nice big flower on it. You'll have to copy and paste the link; I couldn't post it as something you can just click in to. C:\Documents and Settings\Kathy\Local Settings\Temp\Baby_Alpaca_Scarf.pdf

  • It looks to me like a ruffled strip that has been coiled to make a flower.

Ruffles are easy to crochet, you just make a chain the required length and crochet a couple of rows then you increase every 5-10 stitches depending how deep you want the ruffles. Probably easier to google for instructions as it's a long time since I had me hooks out:D
