returning item with no receipt

I received a gift of a kettle which was bought from Argos - it has never been opened, the box is still sealed and has the argos item number sticker on the packaging.

I do not have the receipt as it was a gift and I can not ask the buyer to give me the receipt either.

If I returned it to Argos would I be able to get gift vouchers?

That shouldn't be a problem; it might have been if you'd wanted cash back. When was it bought ?

They usually always give you vouchers without the receipt. Otherwise, call their customer services & tell them you paid by cash, but have lost your receipt, they will ask what store & they can usually track it, in the past i have got my money back that way. Goodluck HTH :)

    Thanks for the replies.

The kettle was only bought last week as far as I know - its definitely still in the catalogue.

Hopefully it wont be a problem to leave it back - heres hoping :)

Most stores should be cool with it, i know if i was working on refunds and someone said it was gift i want this i woudln't have a problem.

If you know something you want instead that would make it even easier, as they dont even have to issue anything.

Does depend on the store sadly, i know some can be really harsh.

I explained to the CSA that the kettle was a gift - she asked me where and when it was bought! I said I didn't know wxactly but that it was PROBABLY bought in that particular store most likely during the previous week.

I got a gift card in return without any further problem :)
