one of my cc's had my work number - biggest mistake ever! but when setting up cc didn't ever anticipate this would be a problem as didn't think i would ever miss a payment. big lesson learnt!

why on earth do folk give mobile numbers to people like banks?
Back in the days of solvency, and what looked like a 'rosy' future, I simply filled in my mobile on the section of the application form that requested it. I agree that it was not 'obligatory', whereas the 'home' number was.
I hasten to add that the 'harassment' from MERCERS was on my 'home' number.
But, to answer your question, most 'folk' give their mobile numbers to their Bank, because the bank asks them for it.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

because the bank asks them for it.

yes, I know...Barclays asked me loads of times before I cried 'enough' and went BR.......I told them I dont have a mobile!
Must admit, it's a bit like telling the TV LIcence people you wont buy a TV licence 'cause you haven't got a TV set!
For some years now there has been a ''presumption'' that everybody has a mobile phone.......
and I suspect, in the early days, folks were quite 'proud' to be able to give a ...''mobile number'.....as they were the toy-of-the-decade?
If I got the slightest whiff of a harrassment on my mobies, I'd change the SIM cards toot sweetNo, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Calls to your mobile?? Do as I did.. set up a mobile contacts group that automatically REJECTED any calls or messages :-)
They soon got bored:happyloveLife - Live it to the full, but live it wisely :A0 -
Hmm good old barclays.....they chased me for nearly 6 months into my bankruptcy for a bank account I held with a £500 O/D (which ended up a damn sight more thanks to their silly charges etc)
eventually the OR me & the OFT were involved and thankfully it ceased....funny thing though they offered me a basic account when bankrupt which I refused & decided on the co-op instead....well things changed a while back & I approached barclays again for the chance of a basic account (wanted the connect card) they replied "we offered you a basic account a while ago and you refused us..so not a chance for another account"
they had my mobile number as well even though I didnt give...when I questioned they said the mobile number was easily sourced as when I took my contract my name etc was added to the phone directoryWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0
