I don't see why I should have to pay towards (and the Banks will recoup their costs) educating stupid people not to borrow more than they can afford
If they are too stupid to understand such a simple concept......... then.....then.....then......grrrrrrrrrrrr'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Perhaps we could use this specimen as a case study?0 -
Well she will be waiting for ages for a Bus.
Strupid woman is on the wrong side of the bl**dy road !!!!!
P.S. That is Brushford bus stop BTW for anyone who is interested, just about 2 miles from her 'estate' :rotfl:'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
I bet the filthy sl*t will be expecting the next generation to pay off her profligacy using her ill gotten HPI gains.
God, I wish they still had debtors prisons for people like this... She could pay back her dues at 50 quid a day scrubbing public toilets. I think she would find the real value of money then!!!0 -

The woman should be ashamed of herself. Educated, good job and she wears her £150k debt almost as a badge of honour.0 -
I think it would be too boring for kids to pay attention to.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

We had a thread running about her. I think I will update it later tonight with this new article...which I just skimmed and really 'enjoyed' (oh, the shame
)...no time now as having a 5 mins by the water cooler.
I do blame myself for some of sons laxness and I can relate a teeny tiny bit to what Liz is saying though were never so extravagant and high earning but pro-rata, I have been there...so busy busy, stressed out manic that I didn't tot up what went out every week on useless stuff...one of the worst was not noticing sons contract 'phone bill for a few months as it got 'lost' in pages of statements.....could have fed us for a year.
It wasn't all the time, just a crazy 2 year period where I bit off way more than I could chew.
Man, she looks rough in the pic too.....@ £800pcm?0 -
Eeeks, I can just see the lesson now ...Not if the lesson was about things they could relate to though....
"Jeddy owes Tykes a Monkey for an 1/8th he bought last weekend. Tykes says the money owed is going up by 25% a day.
a) How much would Jeddy need pay Tykes the following weekend?
or
b) How long before Jeddy makes a surprise visit to the local Casualty unit ?

Good old fashioned budeting is what needs to be taught. It's an alien concept to many these days.
Example & true story: OH is a driving instructor. Young 17-year-old lad, quick on the uptake with the driving, managed to have lessons in the first half of the month, by middle of the month couldn't afford any more until payday. OH suggests to him that he budgets for his driving lessons so that he can achieve the desired aim of passing his test. "What's that" the young lad asks, no idea of what budgeting is. OH explained that when he gets paid he should set aside money for the things he know he needs to spend out on that month and what is left over he can spend as he wishes. "Oh" says young lad "that's a good idea". Young lad gets out of car with a spring in his step realising that there is a solution to his problem.
Unfortunately, some parents do not have budgeting skills to pass on to their children, it's just not something that they have ever done with the advent of easy credit. I'm pretty sure it could be included in maths at school.
I've always thought it would be quite useful if banks could offer a savings account with separate pots which you could deposit money into, ie christmas pot, car maintenance pot, replacement household item pot, holiday pot, whatever. In fact I think some years ago a bank or building society started to offer such an account, but I'm not sure.0
