Mortgage possible?

Hopefully someone has an answer. We are looking to buy a property but my partner only goes back to work full time in August since she has been on maternity leave. Is it still possible to make and offer on a property and secure a joint mortgage even though my partner is not back at work yet, but can be confirmed by her employer as definately returning on a specified date? Thanks in advance.

I don't know but I would think so, just phone a mortgage broker and ask them.
Are you not putting the cart before the horse? Should you not be geting a mortgage proposal 'in principal' THEN making your offer??0 -
Indeed - I think you should be able to get a mortgage, but would suggest you have it all agreed before you put the offer inI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Me and my wife moved last year when she was on maternity leave. We had to give our mortgage lender a letter signed by her company stating her job title, salary and her start date back after maternity leave. I believe that most mortgage companies cant blatantly discriminate against people on maternity leave.0

Thanks for the replies. As advised by missk_ensington I managed to get an agreement in priciple. As Shrimpers_Joy says all they needed was a confirmation letter on the return to work date. Hopefully the mortgage will be agreeded within a couple of months and we can start making offers. Thanks to all.0
