I got 2 for £3 taste the difference mince todday in sainsburys, I think thats a long term price offer as Ive had it a few times. Definatley up there with the leanest supermarket mince. Although of course your butcher is likely to be cheaper, but far too fatty for OH who has high cholestrol. Although tescos standard lean mince I think is slightly cheaper, and pretty lean I find.
We dumped chicken in favour of turkey some time ago although Tescos have got normal chicken for 2.99 for 3/4 breasts on offer at the mo, We tend to buy free range though which is also on offer there at the mo.
Have you ever seen https://www.fixtureferrets.co.uk tells you all the offers and where they are:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
If at all possible, I'd recommend you buy braising steak and mince it yourself. I bought a 1950s mincer from ebay for a few quid, and now I have the comfort of knowing exactly what's in my mince. Obviously realise this isn't an option for everyone.0

The steak mince from Lidl is lovely and I stock up on it when It's on special at 99p.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

If you find "regular" mince too fatty, simply brown it in a pan with no other fat. Cook it slowly until it browns. Then tip the whole lot into a sieve with a bowl underneath and leave it to drain.
Use the drained mince and chuck the contents of the bowl away. No need to buy "lean" mince, which the supermarket often charges extra for - plus the "fatty" mince is more tasty, even with the fat removedWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

Is there another way?
It's the fat which gives meat it's best flavouring!
The only downer on that principle, and it isn't a big one just one to be aware of, is that you are of course paying for the weight of any fat. In my opinion, it's worth it, but others may not agree.
Of the stores you have to choose from, I prefer Sainsbury's. Ideally, a real butcher is best though.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Can you not get to your local market at all? I buy our mince for 99p a pound (but they're always generous!) then separate and freeze. It's good quality, lean and delicious.
Failing that I buy Tesco organic mince - ever so slightly dearer but hardly any fat comes off and it's so full of steaky flavour!!0 -
Just been in the Co-op
you can get two packs of 500g Mince for £4 is that good/bad?0 -
Just been to the Co-op to put my Lotto on and noticed
Co-op 500g British Beef Mince Was £2.69 reduced to £1.29.
Use by Date today, great I thought, fill my Freezer. I took three.
I paid heard them discussing what they were putting them through for.
£10 note
minus
£4.00 lotto
19p Yoghurt
£5.31 Change
Meaning 69p for 3packs of Mince
23p each.
What a Bargain. Id go and get the remaining ones but well no room in the Freezer.
Maybe they had just changed to price according to the time and just hadnt done the stickers yet.
All I need now is a Lotto Win0 -
Bravo! A good deal in the first place, but even better when you'd paid.
Wish I did that well..
