Hi all
My daughter and her partner are about to move into their first place together and she has been looking for lists of food/household items she is going to need we can find lists of food items, but not everything else such as washing powder, loo rolls, cleaning items, etc - I'm sure I've seen a list on here somewhere for setting up a new home, but can't find it - anyone have any ideas?
(It's the lazy part of me that doesn't fancy typing everything out if I can copy & paste instead!)
thanks in advance

To be honest I wouldn't use a list, just buy what I need when the need arises.
There's no point in buying something you will never use just because someone else put it on a list.0 -
Myself and my partner moved out of our family homes in march this year.
The first thing we did when we moved in was completley clean EVERYTHING! esp the kitchen etc. Next we moved the stuff in, did bits of decorating etc.
So lots of cleaning equipment would probably go down a treat.0 -
When me and my boyfriend moved in together last year our first shop for cleaning stuff etc included:
- Light bulbs
- Bleach
- Cleaning cloths
- Shower/Bathroom Cleaner
- Kitchen cleaner
- Loo cleaner/refresher thingys
- pan scrubbers
- Polish & cloths
- Air freshener or candles
- Window cleaner
- Mops
- Brush
- Vaccum cleaner bags
- Sink/Drain unbocker
- Floor cleaner
- Bucket and mop bucket
- Washing powder
- Fabric softener
- Washing up Liquid
- Dishwasher tablets etc if needed
I rambled on a bit then...but hope maybe it helps a bit!

Tinfoil and clingfilm, food storage containers, dustpan & brush, maybe a mop?, sealable plastic bags, nails and/or picture hooks and a hammer, coathangers, washing up stuff i.e. draining board/bowl/brushes, washing up liquid, A BIN! (haha, we forgot that and had to use plastic bags for a few days. Gross)... all things you MIGHT need, I don't know. When my partner and I moved into our place, we just went to Wilkinson's and supermarkets with a notepad and pen and wrote down what we'd need. This came in especially handy for kitchen items like utensils and so forth, because there are always things that you see and think, "Oh YEAH, one of THOSE! WE NEED ONE OF THOSE." Like chopping boards, and colanders, and teatowels, and LED HEAD TORCHES! (That last one might not be a priority, I dunno.)0

Can opener and sharp knife.
I tried to cook a lovely meal on our 2nd night in our new place to discover we couldn't as didn't have the above0 -
Pans, plates, cutlery, kettle, mugs, toaster, weighing scales (if they like cooking?), cooking utensils, teatowels toiletries, towels, bedding.
Tupperware boxes are always handy, as are of course a roasting tin/baking tray.
I could go on for ever but these are some things i couldnt do without!0 -
