empty plastic sweet jars

hi

am cracking on with the sweetie sampers etc for xmas, and have had the idea of making a retro sweet jar (available to buy for £15:eek:) - and will include some money in aswell - depending on funds at the time - as there are a few teenagers who i just have no idea on what to get them lol!

The only jars i can find on ebay are quite a bit for postage, so am hoping that you guys will be able to point me in the right direction.

They need to be plastic, as glass will be too heavy/dangerous.

many thanks

Asda had some kilner jars in at £1.00 each. Either that or Wilko's had them, slightly more expensive, Ikea.
  • julian graves (health food shop) has empty plastic jars with green screw on lids, there is a couple of different sizes around the £1 odd mark and last time i went in they were on 342. Hope this helps
  • My local poundland had 4 mini glass jars with lids that are hexagon shape? so you can have up or on their sides. Was thinking they maybe so cute with selection in like jellybabies/boiled sweets/m and m etc. LIke a mini sweet shop

have a loon in the £ shops and 99p shops
if they dont have any empty ones,I have
seem sweetir jars in there filled with
pom poms or glitter you could empty them out
into plastic bags and reuse them the contents may
come in useful later,if not try a shop localy that
uses these jars for sweets when they are empty
they often sell them off cheaply.

I am making similar for my youngest sister

I got a good sized jar from Ikea for under a pound. It is glass, but it's not a heavy thing at all.

  • We have a traditional sweet shop in our town and they give away the plastic jars free.
  • Definately try the local sweet shops.Ours (bedford) asks you to donate 25p to charity per jar.The labels peeled off really easy and then i just put my own on or stuck a little bow and ribbon round the top.
