I made homemade vegie soup in my slow cooker trying to be smart i put it in slow cooker with a gammon joint yesterday, same gammon joint as i've bought before and done same as i usually do and soup has always been yummy
anyhow this batch is really salty and not sure whats happened hubby mentioned he threw some stock cubes into it last night, he doesnt normally mess with my cooking he said as the ham was in there he threw the ham ones in.
Need to know how to rescue it if possible

I think it's potatoes you put in as they soak up the saltTo love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existance - Sydney Smith0

Yep a raw potato removes the salt as it cooks. Remove the potato after (and tell DH not to bother again bless him )!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I wouldn't bother- I'd feed it to hubby until it has all gone. That'll teach him to mess with your cooking. Why does he think a ham joint needs extra ham flavouring

A peeled raw potato is supposed to absorb salt. Or, you could add more of everything (except salt obviously) and freeze the extra.0 -
Hi
Thanks everyone, the soup is also thickish so think i'll freeze it in batches use some of what's left add more veggies, a potato or 2 and some more water0
