no - usually the collection company is working either on behalf of the bank (i.e. their agent - similar to being an employee for this purpose) or
the collection company can buy your e.g. £1000 debt for say £500 from the bank who are keen to get any of it back. the collection company is taking a gamble that they will have more success at hassling you for the money since that is what they specialise in.
in this case you have a financial connection with the collection company.
