    Hi keza,

These threads may give you some ideas:

Healthy, balanced but cheap lunch ideas?

Low Fat or No Fat Baking for lunchbox ideas?

    low fat snap box

or have a look through this thread which is not specific to low fat foods but may give you some inspiration.

I'll add your thread to the first link later to keep the suggestions together.

  • Bread is low fat

If you are fed up with squash soup, try carrot, tomato, sweet potato, leek and potato, mixed veg, minestrone, cauliflower, celery, mushroom....

How about a big salad with some lean protein added -tuna, salmon, chicken, mackerel, egg, cottage cheese. Doesn't have to be raw, try roasting root veg and onions in a little bit of olive oil then toss in some feta.
  • Try freezing leftover batches of soup and that way you don't have to have the same soup 2-3 days in a row if you get fed up easily of it. Just get a different flavour out of your freezer each night to defrost.

    I don't do soup :) I hate it.

One thing I do like though is cold omlette :) I make a 2 egg omlette, chuck in an equal mass of spinach (either fresh or frozen) and shred that and have it with salad :). If you add enough spinach you can almost make a bread subsititute - spread the mixture out on a baking sheet (with sides!) and bake until set - which is great spread with low fat cream cheese and topped with chopped peppers (or salsa).

I've cut out bread too it really shrinks the belly, l've been taking rice crackers and putting coleslaw or fruit, nut & celery salad from tescos.

thriftlady, bread isn't low fat surely?! it's full of carbohydrates that turn into sugar and then fat in the body. Bread is very fattening.

Mind you it all depends on metabolism and how much you exercise and eat, l know stick thin people who eat lots of bread, but then they seem to eat anything and stay that way

    Happy moneysaving all.
  • carbs turn into sugar, but not fat... they turn into energy. if the energy is not used, these may lead to weight-gain, but not an increase in fat per se....

Surely it depends on how much you eat? I know what makes me fat and it isn't bread, butter or even chocolate. It is simply eating more food than I need.

Bread is 'low fat' as it has a low fat grams per 100grams.

it isn't low in carbs though - of course.

As you titled your thread 'low fat' lunches, then people could assume that bread wouldn't be off the list.

If your low carbing - then thats a totally different thread....
