Ok this may be against forum rules (classed as some form of advertising) but myself and a few other people on here (amos the chicken especially) gain a lot of inspiration from some of the audio tapes we have found by a guy called John Cummuta.
Now he is the american version of Martin but he is more specifically aimed at helping people get out of debt and also changing their mindset, to combat the constant threat of advertising etc draining your money.
A lot of my posts echo this approach, but he really is a very good source of information and well worth a look into
A lot of the things he spoke of were already in my head to be honest, but its always good for affirmation of ideas.
Even if it justs gets you thinking its a worthwhile use of your time
Even if you dont 'find' some tapes then have a look on his website, lots of things on there as well
Also im sure my postings will reflect this
If anyone else has any more sources such as Robert T. Kiyosaki then post them here, the more info we can bring together the better

Dood there's a DFW Virtual Book Club list with recommended reading on and Cummuta et al. are in there a few times already.
Although folks, I do have to say that Martin isn't the end-all and be-all of debt and things fiscal. Cummuta is an extremely clever man who can show you that you really are all being brainwashed when it comes to your lifestyle, the way you see life (your "paradigms") and thus the choices you don't actually make for yourself.
Kevicho and I are both fans of Cummuta because he really is a top bloke and it's well worth "finding" some of his audio boos
You know when you get really excited and eager to tell people about MSE and the err of their consumerist ways and sometimes you feel like preaching MSE from the rooftops, quite simply because you think it's so important everybody should know about it. Well, for Kevicho and I at least, it's the same about Cummuta.

I have not tried the audio tapes but really enjoyed his book - "Are You Being Seduced Into Debt?""This site is addictive!"

I recently 'found' one of his audio books, 'transforming debt to wealth', it really reaffirmed what I already knew, plus was truly astonishing regarding compound interest. I'm even more determined to become debt free after listening and I think the more sources of inspiration the better!0

I'll definately have a look. I found hope and inspiration from 'Laws of Attraction'-worth a read.

sounds interesting I will have to see if my local library can get it in.
It's amazing in life how from an early age we are seduced into a lifestyle and needs versus wants.
My children have far too many toys and I know do not know what they have, this year I have said we are going to have a lean mean xmas for all the family. I would rather put money in their savings/trust fund then buy one more piece of plastic junk made in china. But the constant advertising seduces us all.
I am only on the first rung of the ladder, but I'm hoping that I can seperate want from need. It is so hard as I crave the sparkly shiney things in life. But sound like good reading.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 102

I just started listening to the debt into wealth book and I'd also recommend it.
On top of the info and ideas it preaches - it's easy listening, the guy has a nice voice and its funny in parts.
The only negative point is I'd decided to stop kicking myself, you know stop dwelling on the past (learn yes - dwell no) and just look forward. This book has reminded me how stoooooopid I was so I've got a sore botty again.:mad:0 -
Sometimes a swift size 9 on the rear doesn't do much harm to keep you on the straight and narrow :rolleyes:0
