Partial full and final settlement on an early settlement?

Another quick question.
In the next couple of months I'm going to be able to pay all my loans off, as I've ended up coming into a modest amount of money (not the lottery though, sadly).
I can pay them all of early, in full, but I remember reading somewhere on here that it's possible to offer the lender a partial settlement instead, to see if they bite.
Do you think any banks would actually accept this - and is it worth a try? Could it impact my credit report by adding a 'partial settlement' marker to it?
I'm happy to pay the full amount off, but interested to see whether a lender would still accept 90% of the final figure in full and final settlement, or whether they have no room for bargaining.

THIS POST IS FROM ANOTHER THREAD
I recently paid off a loan with Welcome Finance. I had been in arrears and they offered me a settlement figure which was 66% of the outstanding balance. I accepted as long as there would be no adverse entry on my credit file and asked for them to put this in the offer letter.
I received the letter and it stated that the credit reference agencies would be notified that the loan had been paid in full once I had paid. I paid the lump sum within the time period agreed and thought that would be the end of it. A week later I received this alert from Equifax.
Type: Caution flag
One of your accounts has recently had a caution flag added, amended or deleted. The addition of this flag is an indication to the lender that a new risk is present. Partial
I complained and I now have another entry today which says
New Information
There has been a change to the Current Status on the following account, if this is incorrect, contact Equifax. Settled
Having complained to Welcome Finance and sent a copy of the letter to Equifax surely the reference to the partial payment should be removed. I would not have accepted their offer had I known that would be entered and I have it in writing that they would regard the account as having been paid in full.
Who would I have to contact to have this entry removed0
