The gym is the only little luxury he has?! What are his family- you, his kids, his Sky telly, his car, his internet (probablt loads more that you can think of). If he insists on going to the gym, why not look around and find something cheaper- I know Leisure Centre's in my area do this £2 a go, or £15 a year and stuff like that at community centres etc.
Can you not put your mortgage on Interst only?? Nearly a K a month seems unbelievable?!?! Are you receiving all the Tax credits you're entitled to?
Are the CSA aware that you've had a baby? If not he'll be paying too much CSA as well.0 -
Hi,
that is just my husbands income as i'm not earning as i have a 6mth little boy.
the water is on a meter its just been installed so to be honest i don't know if i'm supposed to give them a reading or if they do it, its just a direct debit that goes out they said thats how much it would be each month?
we rarely use the gold card and when we do we pay it off straight away because of the apr.
the O2 is for mine and my husbands mobile, he gets £30 towards his bill from his job though.
the CSA know we have a baby, but we don't go through them as its an amicable agreement between his ex and us based on the csa calculations.
yes we get £84 a month can't claim anymore than that even though i don't work now.
i will talk to him about the gym but think he has an 18mth contract!!!!0 -
You can cancel the contract, just say he's ill, or you're moving house. If you're only calculating his income, does that mean there's another £400 on top of that?
If CSA is amicable its time to have a word, if you pay her on CSA calculations, then have you calculated the reduction due to you having a baby? Cos that's what the CSA would do. If she won't accept it, let her go through the CSA cos yo'll come better off the way they p1ss and fart about!0 -
yes we have taken into the new baby and taken off 15% which is what the csa would do.
my maternity leave has finished now so no there is not £400 on top fo that unfortunately!0 -
If you went back to work would you benfit from increased tax credits and an additional wage? Would family want to help with the childcare? People say childcare is a massive stumbling block, but it depends what sort of wage you'd go back to. At the moment I've taken a wage dip (I actually asked my emplyers to lower my wage because in lowering my wage by £20 a week I gained nearly £50 in tax credits!)0

Do you have anything you could sell on eBay? If you sold some old-but-nice clothes, handbags, ornaments etc etc you would be surprised at how the money adds up- and every £1 you make is another £1 to throw at your debts.

if i went back full time i would be on £16k but i'd hardly come out with anything coz i'd have to pay for childcare as family all work so can't help!
my husband earns £40k plus so if i went back to work we'd get no tax credits as we'd prob go over the threshold.0 -
What about getting a weekend or evening job when your OH can look after the little un? Even if itsa just a couple of evenings a week, its better than nothing
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
You can go back to work part-time, I think you're employers are legally obliged to allow you to do this. Thing is, the problem isn't gonna go away if you go back to work this week, this year or in 5 years, and I'm sure you wouldn't want to never work again! (You might think so now, wait til baby hits terrible 2's!!!! I can't wait to get to work most of the time!)
Or if its a viable option, you could look at doing your job from home and setting up as Self Employed..... (being able to control your income has its advantages).
You could divorce your husband! The you'd be rolling in it! You;d get a good settlement, 16k a year from your job, hundreds in tax credits and a load in CSA and the house! lol (Only joking!)0 -
yes i'm trying to look into doing work from home but there seem to be so many companies that say you can do it with little outlay but you don't know which are scams and which could actually work! any advice? i've posted on the small biz section but no-one is repying to me!0
