Thanks for all the advice. It turns out that they normally just come in late after shifts like those and they weren't expecting him till 10.30-11am ish the next day and were quite surprised to see him at 8.30am. He obviously went as keeping his job is so important, but I'm glad that there is a procedure they follow, even if they did forget to tell him!
He's also looking into moving a bit closer for during the week, but thats a different thing altogether!0 -
