I've been Money Tipped!
Before all the dodgy comments

Am looking to get OH a massage for Cmas in a nice relaxing place.

He really wouldn't be in for the whole spa experience thing at all, but really think he would enjoy a massage by a trained professional who pays HMRC!!!!

Anyone know anywhere good for guys to go for an hour or two? Don't want a home visit just in case I read the yellow pages ad completely wrong!

This post sounds so dodgy:rotfl: but seriously just want a recommendation or 2 for OH!

LOL, I was looking at the same thing in Norfolk. Actually, several "women's beauty clinics" said they could do it. Do you go to any yourself or have friends that do? They tend to prefer clients husbands/boyfriends rather than unknown men walking in. Otherwise, physiotherapists as gyms and so on may be ok? Get him an indian head massage too - its pure relaxation.

Rather than going down the beauty/spa route, have you thought of googling holistic health centres. Ours offers all kinds of massage, including genuine Thai massage, Indian head massage etc. Therapists tend to be particularly specialised and qualified in the massage field rather than in beauty too.

I've at times been disappointed with massage at beauty places, where the massage has felt more like 'fiddling around' rather than a good firm massage and I think men prefer massage with a stronger pressure.

Why does it seem so difficult to discuss this subject without the chosen words sounding sleazy as you type them!!!:rotfl:

:rotfl: You lot should try finding a non-dodgy sauna for a man in a strange city! Hint, if they are charging over the odds or offering extra services or start by asking what kind of girl you would like, this is NOT your kind of sauna! :rotfl:

Anyway, my masseuse is qualified with the Massage Training Institute (MTI) and the Association of Physical and Natural Therapies (APNT), and she is FANTASTIC! And DH agrees. So, those are good qualifications to look out for. Failing that, look for a sports massage therapist, even if your beloved isn't a sportsman.

Roll on Wednesday ... monthly massage day again!

  • I am not sure about in your particular area, but in my town there is a sports therapy massage centre which do all kinds of legitimate and legal :rotfl: massages. Maybe google or look in your local yellow pages? Your fella would probably feel more at ease soemwhere like that than the whole girly spa set up. HTH
It is only a bargain if you need it!

Sorry I have to disagree. You can and will get a good firm massage from a beauty therapist if she is GOOD. It depends on where they have worked and what sort of training they have had.
I have been to holistic places and have had a rubbish massage, its trial and error, please do not think that all Beauty Therapist Fiddle around.

Ask around and get some recommendations. If you can afford to go yourself first and check it out then all the better !!

I think I did read it properly, you were saying that a lot of beauty therapists don't give a good massage

Personally I think the key thing to ask is "what qualifications do you have?" and "how long were you studying for", and if it's just a half day course then I wouldn't use them. Actually that's not entirely true, I do sometimes have a top up massage at my health club if my regular lady can't fit me in, and I don't check their individual qualifications. However I also don't get such a good massage ...

I would strongly suggest that you look around for indie Chiropractors in your locale as many offer such therapies such as deep tissue massage etc. I have been for such treatments quite a few times and for men who have physical jobs and suffer aches and pains ,it is both beneficial and very destressing/relaxing. He would probably be more comfortable with a female practitioner...its all above board.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
