Best small yoghurt maker

Mum was thinking of getting a yoghurt maker but after going into Lakeland today she thinks they're a bit big to leave out on the kitchen surface all the time as she's really limited on space.
Anyone got any suggestions as to smaller alternatives that work ok without too much faffing around? I saw the easyo ones on Amazon but couldn't see how they worked.
(I really hope mum doesn't find these forums as she'll know exactly what Santa's going to be bringing.:rotfl:)

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

The Easiyo yoghurt maker is half price at Lakeland at the moment, £6.84. You're "supposed" to use their sachets to make the yogurt but many people (including me) don't bother and instead make yoghurt in it using uht milk.

There's a big thread about the Easiyo giving hints and tips.

My granny and then my mother always made yogurt by keeping some yogurt from last time and adding to warmed up milk and then would put it in a small casserole with a lid and wrap it in a woolen shawl and leave it for 24 hours. It always came out lovely and creamy.
I would not want to use a purpose-bought gadget unless I can get it really cheap at a charity shop, or free (wide mouth thermos flask, brand new, fished out of a skip a few weeks ago!).
I suppose the Easiyo is just a glorified wide-mouthed thermos flask, no?
Not criticising those who choose to use the gadget, just trying to think of alternatives to buying yet another piece of equipment, spending money and taking up space. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
No, the Easiyo has an inner compartment for the milk and you fill the outer compartment with hot water and seal. Then it acts like a thermos.
I had a go with my friend's one and it was amazing. However, it's way too big for my kitchen, so I've not bought one.0 -
I've got an easiyo and my friend has a lakeland electric bulk yog maker. I actually think the lakeland one is smaller, and if I had my time again that's the one I'd get my friend has far more consistent results than I do.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
