New Deal and Learndirect

Hi. I am due to go on New Deal in a month but I applied for a Learndirect at home course. I want to do Learndirect because at least I can choose what I want to do and gain more better qualifications than New Deal. I have an appointment to see my ND advisor next week. Do I tell him I am doing Learndirect. Would I still have to attend?

Scott.

Learndirect courses are intended to be done in your own time, whether working or not. I'm sure that your advisor will be happy that you're improving your situation but it won't affect the situation with New Deal.
  • What age are you? Where I am you'd still have to attend.

New deal is mandatory i'm afraid, you will have to fit learn direct around same as you would if you were working. If you don't attend and say it was because of the learn direct they will class you as unavailable for work and you could loose your benefits.
Learn direct can take a while to improve you skills in the area you have chosen and then get you into work, you have to be prepared to take employment now.
