Car Insurance refusing to issue no claims

I have just changed my car insurance from Direct Line to Swinton, rang Direct Line this morning to ask for my No Claims Proof the girl said she would call me back when she sent it (wierd) so she rang back and said they cant send me proof till an outstanding payment is cleared. Passed me through to accounts where a very rude man told me I had to pay £22 for a home insurance policy from April 2008!! before they would post out my no claims. Told him I went BR etc and he just said so...you have to pay this before you get your no claims.
Can they do this? I dont see why they can stop me from getting my no claims because of my home insurance. i could just pay the £22 but they have reallyt p****d me off now

Hi
Have you still got your renewal letter from Direct Line?
When we changed car ins' last month, that was all the new company wanted to see.
Also ~ Try phoning Swinton and tell them them problem you are having with Direct Line... Just don't tell them ALL of the problem!!!Stuart0 -
Your renewal quote should be enough for Swinton as it has the NCD on there.
If you don't, then ring Swinton. All the insurers have a mass database so they can check your NCD themselves anyway.0 -

It's not clear to me as to whether you are now discharged or not by your post
If not then technically the debt is still owed until you are discharged. Does sound like they are making it harder than they could though.Bankrupt 07/10/2009

I am sorry to inform you that I had to supply full proof of NCB to Swintons this year, I had proof on my old insurance that clearly stated this, I emailed them a copy back came the reply. Can not take this as evidence, must be signed NCB by your insurace company. Swintons were not very helpful, I will not be using them again.Look after the Pennies and the Pounds will take care of themselves. :beer:0
